What is general dental?
General dentistry refers to the diagnosis, treatment, and in some instances, preventative strategies offered for your oral health. Finding the cause of tooth aches and pains, treatments like dental fillings, root canals, and dentures, as well as routine, dental health check ups all fall under general dentistry.
Dental Check Ups
At our dental check ups, we’ll firstly examine your teeth. Your dentist will check over your teeth and gums, looking for any abnormalities or potential cavities. We may perform an X-ray of your teeth to further observe any abnormalities we find. The second component to your check up will be a professional clean to remove any staining or plaque buildup.
Dental Fillings
If we do find cavities, the sooner they’re filled the better. Your dentist will place white fillings in your cavities so they blend in well with your teeth. This will prevent further rotting in your teeth. If cavities are ignored, your tooth may rot deeply, causing you to need a root canal.
What benefits do regular dental check ups offer?
It’s recommended you visit your dentist every six months if you’re in good oral health and take appropriate care of your teeth and gums. Regular dental check ups keep your teeth in a good, clean condition. Seeing your dentist every six months means any issues in your oral health will be addressed in a timely manner, saving you money on costly future treatments.
What age should I bring my children to the dentist?
We recommend anywhere from age one or within six months after the first tooth grows through. Primary teeth typically begin growing in around six months of age.
