What are dental crowns and tooth bridges?
Dental crowns are a cap for your tooth. These mimic the shape and grooves of a tooth and seamlessly place on top of your existing tooth. Dental crowns work to restore strength and structure to your tooth. They’re commonly used to cap teeth following a root canal treatment or in circumstances where tooth bridges are required.
Tooth bridges work to restore the balance of your smile when one or multiple teeth are missing. The bridge is a prosthetic that attaches to your other, neighbouring teeth to give the appearance of a full smile. To place a bridge, we’ll prepare the teeth either side of the gap with dental crowns — these will hold the bridge in place.
What benefits do crowns and bridgework offer you?
Crowns and bridges work to “fill in” your smile. They offer better structure to your teeth following restorative procedures. However, they also offer many cosmetic benefits to patients. As these fit over your teeth they can fix the appearance of discoloured or stained teeth, crooked smiles, or chipped or cracked teeth.
How much does a crown or bridge cost?
Our fee for a dental crown is $1750. If you are with a health fund, depending on your level of cover you may be entitled to a rebate.
The cost of tooth bridges varies depending on the material and the placement. We understand that dental care can become costly, we offer upfront prices before commencing work.
How long will a crown or bridge last?
The lifespan of your crown or bridge will depend on a variety of factors, but the average lifespan is roughly 15 years.
