Digital Impressions

The Traditional Impression Alternative

What is a digital Impression?

Impressions can be used to create mouth guards, whitening trays, retainers,
crowns, bridges, veneers, dentures, Implants and accurate models, among other things
a dental impression is an imprint of the teeth and mouth.

Dental impressions are very common procedures used in dentistry, but if you
are one of the many patients that absolutely can’t stand to have the
traditional impression material (alginate) sit in your mouth, you will be
glad to know that there is an alternative.

Here at Be Dental we are always looking to adopt modern technology with the
goal to deliver optimal treatment in the most comfortable way possible.

How long does it take?

When Dr Waters has completely prepared the teeth that require restoration, a
wand is used to take a digital image of the teeth. Chris explains that
taking a digital impression of prepared teeth takes approximately a minute
and a half, and an impression of the teeth in the opposite arch takes a mere
45 seconds.

What this means for you?

Faster Turnaround

With digital impressions, we are able to send your impressions to the lab much faster than before. Rather than slowly sending the traditional impression, digital impressions can be sent in seconds. This means a faster turn around for your crown/removable appliance.

Real Time Feedback

Real-time feedback is one of the main benefits of using digital impressions. While scanning, we can immediately find errors or missed areas and repair them. This means a reduction in the time you may need to visit us to amend any incorrectly scanned data.
